Origin and Cultural Background
The money toad, known as Jin Chan or “Three‑Legged Toad,” originates from Daoist folklore and classic Chinese myths. It is said that Liu Hai (a disciple of the Eight Immortals) subdued this golden toad, which then became his loyal companion, known for spitting out coins to bestow wealth on people     .

Symbolism & Function
This auspicious creature symbolizes attracting and safeguarding wealth, as it is traditionally depicted with a coin in its mouth and sitting atop coins, representing continuous inflow of riches. It’s also believed to dispel negative energies and protect the household   .

Material
Bronze is commonly used for Bagua Golden Toad figurines, often cast with an overlay of Bagua trigram symbolism. Some variants are made of stone, obsidian, or crystal, but antique-style bronze remains the most traditional material for its durability and feng shui efficacy.

Placement Recommendation
Place it in the wealth corner (southeast of a home or office), on a living-room shelf or office desk, with its mouth facing inward—this ensures its “spitting” directs wealth into the space rather than outward.

Placement Avoidance
Avoid positioning it facing doors, windows, bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, or toilets, as these orientations can disrupt its protective and wealth-accumulating function   .
